From Eirik Bardal - General Manager
In the Winnipeg Free Press on Thursday, March, 28th, Gordon Sinclair wrote in his column that Neil Bardal Funeral Centre has received a faxed letter from a lawyer representing Bardal Funeral Home and Crematorium at 843 Sherbrook Street.
Our family owned a funeral company at that location from 1894 to 1979.
The letter tells us that we are to 'cease and desist' in the use of the words 'Funeral Centre' as part of our name, because of the 'confusion' and 'damage' this is causing them.
For 33 years since my father Neil left Sherbrook Street to begin Neil Bardal Inc.; both companies have dealt with this confusion sometimes suffering or benefiting as a result.
'Funeral Centre' explains that we are not just a funeral home.
The significant expansion of our only Winnipeg location at 3030 Notre Dame Avenue in 2008, put under one roof the chapel, crematory, embalming, scattering 'Garden of Memories', reception facilities, and much more.
Neil Bardal Funeral Centre will continue in the finest Bardal Family traditions that began with my great grandfather A.S. Bardal; to provide help, support and guidance to anyone who calls.
I want to thank everyone who has commented on this article.
