OUR HERITAGE
In the beginning... by Neil Bardal.
Neil Bardal Inc. was incorporated June 6, 1980 and my wife Annette and I began our new career in funeral service. On that day we received two calls and thus began our journey as a funeral company whose purpose was to respond to peoples needs in dealing with a death in the family in a caring and competent manner.
The growth of the company was substantial in the following years and the journey became challenging. Our original intent was to keep the operation simple with renting vehicles when needed and using the facility of Crematorium, embalming and removal service to accommodate those needs.
Our market share was in large part the church community of Winnipeg and the good folk of our neighbourhood known as the West End of Winnipeg, the community in which I grew up.
Our greatest strength is the people in our company. Our directors bring their own expertise and personality to their profession and in many ways have developed their own clientele over the years. Our embalmers, cremation staff and administrative people work hand in hand with the front line directors and there is excellent synergism in their working relationship. We start every day with a conference call to prepare the myriad of detail that quality funeral service demands.
We purchased Brooklawn Crematorium in 1982, renaming it NBI Cremation Services. It is where the cremations, embalming and removals are centered. A major expansion in 2008 saw the addition of a chapel for services and receptions. This makes us a full service funeral company with quality facilities and more importantly competent individuals who personally chose their profession as people in funeral service. They make the difference and I am very proud of all of them.
Neil Bardal Funeral Centre is independent, family owned and operated, located at 3030 Notre Dame Avenue, across from Brookside Cemetery. Our facilities have been described as " contemporary ". When our families walk through our doors, they are greeted by competent, caring staff in a comfortable setting.
Our chapel comfortably accommodates 350 for services and receptions, and offers private rooms for viewings and the family to gather, and arrangement offices for the planning or pre-planning of funerals, all set in a relaxed atmosphere.
We believe that it's the caring people behind the name that sets us apart. There are nine staff members who provide professional services to our families in need. Our licensed funeral directors are Eirik Bardal, Richard Rosin, Janice Dryden, and Bob Gardiner.
